I have heard this truth since I was a child, but if I look back at the actions of my life; I rarely demonstrated that I believed it to be true. I never consistently tithed my money, time and talents. As a result, I ended up for many years missing out on the wonderful blessings that come from giving. However, I am truly grateful for God's grace and mercy! Despite my lack of faithfulness God has continued to allow me to be blessed and highly favored!
TheGivingExperiment is born out of my life's work of doing it the hard way and not planting enough good seeds. Tithing is like planting good seeds in fertile ground. It has been said that you reap what you sow. Actually, we reap what we sow in abundance. Think about it, when a single kernel of corn is planted, it does not yield a single kernel of corn. Instead many ears of corn are harvested from a single corn stalk and each ear of corn has dozens of kernels of corn.
Another example of the law of giving can be seen in comparing the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. Water flows into the Sea of Galilee from the river Jordan and then flows downstream into the Dead Sea. Because the Sea of Galilee is constantly "giving" of its water it flourishes with many fish and plant life. However, the Dead Sea only receives water and does not give. As a result, there are no fish or plants. As its name indicates, it is dead.
Given the scripture, examples in nature and my own life's experience I whole heartedly believe that giving with a joyful heart will bring forth abundance. I have a 4 year goal to be able to give away $10,000.00 per month; however, I am not going to put a limit on God's blessing because there is no limit. At the end of the day the purpose of this project is not to highlight TheGivingExperiment, rather to inspire others to have faith and give freely and show what is possible when you follow your heart. Blessing and favor come in many forms. Strong finances, good health, job stability, a happy marriage, children, etc. Thank you for your consideration in helping out with TheGivingExperiment and it is my prayer for you and your family to be blessed greatly!
Sincerely,
